"Aalst tourist website is not available in English. Go figure."

Dating back to the 9^th century, Aalst flourished as a port due to this strategic location in the Middle Ages. Nowadays, besides hop production, its textile industry is still alive while they manufacture the needed machines. It is strange that their tourist website is only available in their language. They must not be very interested in tourism.
