"Castle is just ruins now, still oozing history though."

Just take the elevator and a few seconds you will see the Valkenburg Castle, locally known as Kasteel van Valkenburg. However, there is not much to see as it is just the remains of what it used to be. So consider it historic ruins, take some photos of the view and move on. Unless you are a history buff and you want more.

A network of secret tunnels under the castle, lead to the Velvet caves as they used to be an escape exit. You can learn all about them with a guide. Regarding the velvet caves you can buy Christmas ornaments during Christmas, while the rest of the year they are open for visitors.
