"The colors have a reference to the horses of the city’s founders."

Dating in the early 13th century Siena Cathedral is a medieval structure has a dark and white stripy pattern on both the exterior and the interior.

The colors have a reference to the horses of the city’s founders and they look very impressive applied to the big columns inside the church.

The city had prosperity at the time, only to be replaced with the Black Death in the 14th century that left plans for a bigger construction unfinished.

A ticket is needed to enter the Cathedral, its Crypt, the Baptistery and the Museo dell'Opera.
