Du Cerf is the restaurant every fine foodie has to visit at least once in their lifetime. It is traditional, but it is mind blowing. The restaurant is located in a small Swiss village called Cossonay, which is a 20 minute drive from Lausanne. It is an old building, with some baking history in its past.
To cut to the chase, on the day of the visit, food at Du Cerf was brilliant. Tender and juicy deer melting in the mouth (sorry animal lovers), complex flavors all working together for a fine result. The design on the plates was just Carlo, the Italian born chef, having fun.
Service was flawless. The waiters were professional but down to earth and their presence was enjoyable.
Unexpectedly, Du Cerf is one of the finest restaurants in the world. Don't you love such surprises?
Makes you wonder why it is not featured on any of those fancy lists.
Keep in mind that just like everything in Switzerland, it is expensive...
