"Modest appearance but it houses Rubens' Virgin and Child."

Did you know that merchants had a saint of their own? That's Saint Nicolas. The old church of Saint Nicholas in Brussels, dating back to the 11th century, has gone through rebuilt and renovation a few times. By its modest appearance, it does not resemble the rich facades of the usual Gothic structures. But it does house artwork by Jean Van Orley, Smeyers, Stallaert, and Rubens's 'Virgin and Child'.
