Michelangelo's converted baths so don't be fouled by the modest exterior.

Dedicated to the Christian Martyrs, the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels and the Martyrs is a titular basilica church. The exterior is modest, resembling more like ancient ruins than the usual church facades in Rome, and does not prepare you for what is going inside. This is because it used to be the wall of the Baths of Diocletian on which the church was constructed.

Upon entering you will encounter the frigidarium of the Baths, followed by the Caldarium. Both rooms became the luxurious church that you see today, thanks to the famous artist Michealangelo. The walls are covered with marble and paintings, giving it a luxurious feeling. There is also the Solar Meridian Line, near a statue of Galileo.

Plus entrance is free.
