"This was a market area for cattle and other merchandise in the 2nd century."

You will probably come across this ancient circular peristyle structure, on your city bus tour. Forum Boarium was the market area for cattle and other merchandise back in the 2nd century. It was also a religious place, housing various Temples throughout the years. It is well-preserved and you can admire the Corinthian columns up close. There is also the Church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin nearby if you decide to take a stroll in this area.
