"The mother Piazza of all Piazzas. A perfect 10!"

The mother Piazza of all Piazzas. A perfect 10! Even for non-Catholics. St. Peter’s Square is definitely one of the world's most famous and impressive squares. And busiest. The adjacent St. Peter's Basilica, which belongs to the Vatican City, is right in front of it. Its scale is so huge, it is hard to sink in. There are some fountains and a 4,000 year old obelisk (built by a Farao in Egypt and moved to Rome) and some colossal Tuscan colonnades. Bernini worked on the square and the fountains in the early 17th century.

Long queues await for entry in the Basilica, but the square is so big, you can comfortably move around anytime. If you happen to go on a holiday, there is a big screen projecting the mass, and the audio from the service enriches the experience.

The scene is spoiled by construction boards, but this is presumed to be a temporary thing.
